Summary
The President & CEO sets strategy and oversees all daily operations of AFA, including legislative lobbying, marketing, industry outreach, budgeting, finance and administration. The President & CEO will work with the Board of Directors to formulate and prioritize industry issues and initiatives, and to establish strategic plans for implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities

Direct and oversee and direct all advocacy efforts; including but not limited to oversight and communication strategy with AFA lobbyist(s)

Develop strategy, execute, and organize all AFA sponsored events. This includes procurement of sponsorships, evaluation of effectiveness and purpose of events, and overseeing all event planning and coordination.

Oversee staff and contracted parties

Direct media relations and public relations (press releases and conferences)

Develop strategy and oversee collaterals, signage, and all written materials, including OpEds and press releases

Coordinate with the Board Chairman and Treasurer in preparation of annual budget, manage AFA finances, and oversee preparation of financial statements

Conduct and oversee industry outreach campaigns to increase AFA membership and funding

Develop and execute on a collaboration strategy with all state, county, and local legislators as well as all aerospace related civic organizations.

Research effectiveness and create a strategy for participation in key government and industry committees chartered with furthering Aerospace industry interests.

Coordinate with management of the AFA-sponsored WATR Center and participate on WATR Advisory Committee, billing quarterly

Direct and oversee production and distribution of quarterly magazine, LIFT, and weekly newsletters

Direct and oversee marketing services and agreements and AFA value-member services

Participate in education and workforce initiatives and co-lead/lead business attraction efforts

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the AFA Board of Directors
Skills/Qualifications
-
10 years’ experience in business management, government administration, communications and/or politics; Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent experience

Experience planning and organizing lobby efforts directed at elected officials

Highly organized, self-motivated, results-driven individual who can work independently
-
Strong leadership skills, with excellent oral and written communication skills

Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders
-
Manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations
-
Demonstrated ability in public speaking and public relations
-
Outreach and fundraising skills and experience

Personnel management skills and experience
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications
Compensation and Benefits

The Aerospace Futures Alliance (AFA) is a 501(C)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the aerospace industry in Washington state. It is the leading aerospace industry association in the state, with nearly every major aerospace employer represented, and with members from throughout the aerospace value chain. In recent years, AFA has merged with the Washington Space Alliance and the Washington Aerospace Partnership, in order to serve all aspects of the industry in Washington. AFA’s primary activities include policy advocacy, workforce development and industry development activities, designed to help aerospace professionals strengthen their businesses and their professional networks.
AFA is seeking a talented President & CEO to join our great team. The position primarily identifies, advocates, educates, organizes and administers initiatives furthering education, capacity, and economic growth in aerospace. Duties also include working with the Board of Directors to recognize other industry needs and goals, collaborating with the Board to develop, and then leading the execution of, strategies that successfully address those goals, and coordinating with elected officials and other aerospace related state and industry organizations to further the industry in Washington.
