CONSTANCE VON MUEHLEN
COO of Horizon Air
Constance von Muehlen is responsible for leading the operational performance strategy of Alaska Airlines' regional partner, Horizon Air. She oversees the system operations, customer service, pilot and maintenance teams with a results driven-approach that emphasizes safety, data analysis and continuous improvement. At the same time, she's a respected leader with a reputation for valuing people and doing the right thing.
Previously, she was managing director of airframe, engine and component maintenance for Alaska Airlines. In that role, Constance ensured the vendor maintenance and store/distribution teams delivered industry-leading safety, compliance, quality, performance and cost standards.
Concurrently, she oversaw the Virgin America technical operations team, and was responsible for all aspects of maintenance for the Airbus fleet.
Constance has also served as Alaska's director of engine maintenance and director of maintenance information systems and project management.
Prior to joining Alaska, Constance held various positions at the engine manufacturer, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and also worked at Air Canada Technical Services where she held positions in engine, accessory and airframe maintenance.
Constance began her career as an aviation officer in the US Army, flying Blackhawk helicopters and leading flight operations throughout the world. She holds an FAA Commercial Instrument Helicopter Pilot’s License, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Johns Hopkins University and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt. In 2018, Constance graduated from the Executive MBA program at the University of Washington.
